Hi! Thanks for your comment. We have been seeing these spikes in our Brixton node a number of times over the past few months. There was also one in early December which we reported in this previous blog: https://airaware.substack.com/p/can-we-do-it?sort=new. Our initial thought was it was a failure with the node but the Breathe London team at Imperial reassured us it was working fine. It could be something very local - a nearby bonfire perhaps? But it seemed odd that it happened again just after midnight going into the early hours of 1 Jan. PM2.5 can take a while to disperse so it might have happened in the middle of the night but still been lingering in the morning.

Hi, I would like to talk to you about this spike in the data for 9am 1st January, this isn’t right! I was here in Brixton driving out to see family at 9am and Brixton was dead (no people, no buses, no traffic). The air appeared to be clear and smoke free. I will have CCTV and Brixton was dry, overcast and very windy. I would suggest the problem blew in from somewhere else, or is linked to manufacturing or a factory.

I wasn't stood next to the Node at the time, but with with the high winds that Brixton was experiencing on the morning of the 1st I would be suprised if the localised polution was not being dispersed.
